Firefox anyone?
Firefox anyone?
Terry Wolfe called me and said that he cannot post messages to the board anymore.
He said that when he clicks SUBMIT, it comes back with no response.
I logged in as him and posted a message with no problems, so I doubt that it's a problem with his account. He said that he's using FireFox, thus I suspect a problem with FireFox.
Has anyone had problems in posting messages to this board using FireFox?
He has no problem browsing and navigating the board, only posting.

Re: Firefox anyone?
I am suspicious that it is related to my Qwest ActionTec 5000 DSL modem and/or client computers running Windows 7 or Vista.
Some users have also reported they are not getting email notifications anymore.
My netbook computer (Windows 7) suddenly could not access any website except Google.
After reading about this on the web, I discovered that Vista and Win7 have an MTU setting of 1500 whereas all previous OS's have an MTU setting of 1492. When I changed my MTU setting on my netbook to 1492 I could suddenly access all websites. I only had this problem at home, not at Starbucks or elsewhere, therefore it had to be the router. I didn't want to restore all settings to factory because I was too lazy to put in all the data again.
Furthermore, I don't trust this modem anymore and feel that I need to replace it with something older that has an MTU setting of 1492. The ActionTec MTU setting cannot be changed. Chris Andries was here last week and he had the same problem with Win 7.

I use Firefox, Opera and IE on XP and Windows 7. I never had problems when posting messages to a phpBB-board.
Mail notifications can fail if mails sent from the board (SMTP) direct to the internal mail engine of phpBB. I changed this to "use SMTP server" at the german xbase-forum. Mass mails (more than one user gets a notifcation) can fail if some of the mails are rejected by spam filter settings of the receiving server or mailbox domains are blacklisted somewhere.

Re: Firefox anyone?
I don't use this feature; phpBB gives a fast overview about new messages. If I open up my browser, it comes with ten tabs, and one of them leads to this forum, instantly showing the result of "new messages". This is much easier than mail notifications.
