We have an external process that runs 24/7 and twice yesterday one of the files that is used over and over again to write out for edi was resaved/overwritten from a .dbf to a .$$$. We had no error message until it tried to open the file the next time on the timed event. This exe does not use ads and has been running for a couple of years.
Any thoughts?

Windows Server File Write
Re: Windows Server File Write
Are you sure that it isn't another process that overwrote the file?
If you renamed it from the .$$$ back to .DBF would it be a correct database?

yes, the file is fine when we rename it. Seen this over the years (too many years probably..lol) and very, very rare.Just seeing if anybody else has ever run accross it...thanks
Re: Windows Server File Write
Are you using Advantage Server?
It will write to temporary files during some processes and then rename them.
