Roger, do you have any projected timetable for the next Express Build. I know you have several fixes to the 258 build over the last year or so.
Cliff.

I have been working on build 259.
I'm testing it with Xbase++ CTP4 right now.
I'm not sure about a time frame yet.
Probably before Thanksgiving.

What are your thoughts on Xbase++ 2.0 after the DevCon.
How is it working with both the new and old Xbase++ version loaded on your system. Are you using the new locations for Xbase++ 2.0 and the old 1.9 default program files location. Or do you do something different.
I know how you use your batch files and settings.
Cliff.

I installed 2.0 in the new location - Program Files ...
When I switch between versions, I simply use a batch file to change path, lib, include, etc.
I have recompiled eXpress++ with build 2.00.470.
It required making some changes to my 2.0 project files because of the new pathing requirements, but that took very little time.
I have installed PostGreSql 8.3 and did some upsizing to copy some .DBFs into a PostGreSql database. That went well. I then wrote a test program that uses the database with the PGDBE and make a DCBROWSE. That went well too with good performance.
The problems I am having now are related to SQL SELECT statements and differences between ADS SQL and PostGreSql. I realized that I need to upgrade to PostGreSql 9.3 to get the functions I need. I will do that today.
Other than that, and some still missing documentation, it's looking good.

To what extent is it necessary or desirable to move to Xbase++ 2.0?

what do you expect from Xbase++ v2.x when it will be released next year ?
as always when something change it will be work to find out difference ... now or later.
it is up to you to install latest CTP3R4 and have a look yourself if you can work with it.
if you want to use PostgreSQL try to DbfUpSize.EXE your DBF ... hope it works ...
if DbfUpSize.EXE fail, e.g. too many DBF Fields, than you can start now redesign your Code
to be able to use pgDBE when Xbase++ v2.x will be released.

I've been using its own standard database that has no restrictions on the number of fields and the size of the databases, except for disk storage. By the way, I put my basic design - intelligent "Aidos-X++" in full public free access to the source code:

Hi Roger
That's very interesting, send me an EMAIL if you have listed the 259 version, to renew my subscription.
