Sort on File with Memo field

Roger,
Never run across this before, but may have never had this method..just not sure.
We are sorting a small file for a report that has a memo field as the 50th field. There are fields afterwards that do print on the report, and are part of the sort key. When we do this, the fields after the memo field start inserting data from other fields, eventually making most garbage. The last two fields, which are new fields for this report end up blank. These fields all have data in them in the file itself.
One thing to mention, the original files in our system are created in foxpro, if that makes any difference. We normally do not sort this particular file.
So, I moved the memo field to the end of the file, just to test it, and it then worked.
Have you seen this issue before? I have not had this occur before. Also, we tested on different files (different data, same file) and had the same results.
Thanks
Fred
