Brian -

How did you fare from the hurricane.
Was it as bad as last time?

Roger,

We got lucky.. The hurricane took a little jog to the east, and stayed just offshore... While it was a big storm, the out bands dissipated just as they started to approach high springs fl (our new home).. We had max gusts of 45 - 50, but most of the time, it was 30 or less.. very little rain...

if the storm had gone 30 miles west, instead of 30 miles east, we would have had quite a bit of damage, at least to the outdoor scenery... We have 5 acres of which 3 1/2 are heavily wooded...

We lost power for 15 minutes and 10 minutes, plus 20 or so little power blips...

Only a couple of small branches came down, and a couple of the desert roses were knocked over...

that was it..

very lucky...

South Florida also got luckier.. they had even less than us....

All of news warnings expected a much worse outcome.

I'm glad for you that it wasn't so bad.

central & northern florida on the coast got slammed badly... lots of damage... st augustine is just now getting out from being underwater and Brett in jacksonville is still without electricity...

like i said, we got very lucky... Where we live it's a bit over 90 miles to the ocean (by design, i was over being worried about hurricanes) :)

even 40 miles east of us it was much worse..
