ADS

#1 Post by omni »

We have a user moving servers, and ADS.

Anybody know what has to be done to handle that, from the ADS side. All I know is where the install files are, but not sure that helps, and the license they have is unlimited, for the 150 users. Think I saw that SAP does not do that any longer(?), assist and/or sell.
They installed it, not us, but even that person is gone now. Been 8 years or so.

Thanks

Hi, Fred.

You may reuse the install files, and you need the license key. In case, there are still some guys somewhere in Ireland providing a kind of support. ADS installation is just nothing: Running the setup, adding the license key, selecting the language. That's it. Configurating the ADS.INI (if you need one) may be a little more work, but really just a little.
Best regards,
Tom

Virtualize old server, put it onto new hardware, remove other (unecessary) services and be done with it.

And it is sysadmins job.

If it's intended to change the server OS aswell (for security or feature reasons), creating and moving a virtualization may not be a good solution.

Saw this on a Sap forum. Not sure it is true or not.

Just copy the folder(s) and the registry key. The license is stamped into ads.exe file.
