DCMENUITEM has a WHEN clause:

DCMENUITEM 'Open File' PARENT oMyMenu ACTION {||lOpeningRuns := .T., DoTheDamnedFileOpening()} WHEN {||!lOpeningRuns}

If the WHEN-clause returns .F., the menu item can't be selected.
