It's ON!!!
Where: Boise, Idaho USA
When: May 1,2,3 2015
It has been over 5 years since many of us gathered together in Boise, Idaho USA for the first eXpress++ conference.
It's time for another gathering of friends and associates who all have an interest in Xbase++ and/or eXpress++.
There are several reasons why I have recommended that we all get together and I threw up a trial balloon last November after returning from the Phoenix Xbase++/Fox conference in October, where I was a speaker again on some new topics.
1. Xbase++ 2.0 has been released.
2. There was much interest in the new web features available in Xbase++ 2.0 such as CXP and httpEndPoint.
3. There was much interest in the PostGreSql support and native SQL support.
4. The eXpress++ workshop was highly attended again, for the 4th straight year.
5. I miss seeing many of my European friends and hope they will join us this year.
6. When I told eXpress++ customers that I'm thinking of a spring Devcon in Boise they all said they would come.
As before, I only charge the amount that is needed to pay for a conference room and lunch and coffee.
That will be determined in the next few days.
Your major expense will be the cost of travel and the hotel.
I will be getting a special rate for us which will probably be about $80 per night.
We will be at the Springhill Suites, which is only a 5 minute walk from where i live and a 5 minute walk to "Barbacoa", a great restaurant and pub where we can sit on the patio by the pond. It burned down 2 years ago and was rebuilt.
Also, a new German Pub is opening in April.
Let's help them get started.
Boise, ID has changed a lot since 2008.
Many more restaurants, coffee houses, pubs.
We have a great walking and bike riding path that travels along the Boise River.
Bicycles will be available.
The American West is one of the greatest places in the world to ride a motorcycle.
If you have a motorcycle license, the Boise Harley dealer rents bikes and trikes.
We can ride together to Sun Valley, Cascade or McCall.
Those without a license can follow in my car. It's very comfortable.
Also, I have a new Harley trike that is fun to ride.
I'll let anyone give it a try, after a $35,000 deposit.
This will probably be done on the day after the devcon so plan to stay an extra day or two.
For those of you who experienced "The Lord of the Flies" event at my daughter's house at our outside dinner party in 2008, don't worry.
This year we will be having the event in town where there are no flies and we are not 300 yards from a dairy farm.
The coffee, wine, beer and pastries will be something to write home about.
I promise we will enjoy ourselves.
I also promise we will all learn something of value.
Read the below topic. I want to visit this a lot at the devcon.

Also, we all have so much to share in what we have learned since 2008.
My session on Multi-Threading went over big at the Phoenix devcon. I'll do that again.
There will be plenty of time ( 3 days ) to deal with your special concerns.
If you want more time than that, I will be available for consulting for a week prior and a week after.
The time will need to be scheduled so there are no conflicts with flight schedules.
There may, or may not, be representatives from Alaska Software. Personally, I don't think they will be needed.
They still have a lot on their plate with Xbase++ 2.0.
I will be their representative at this devcon, so I will need to have your questions prior to the devcon in case I need to consult with Alaska.
My European friends and customers are especially welcome to come for this event.
Let's get this ball rolling. I need RSVP's before March 1 so I can plan accordingly.
Please do this by private email so we don't clutter up this thread.
Instead, let's keep this thread focused on the agenda.
Anyone who wants to do a presentation is welcome to do so.
In fact, it will be appreciated by all of us.
